A Brief History of Lamar University was published in 1973 in celebration of Lamar University's Golden Anniversary. The book describes major highlights of Lamar University history, beginning with its start as a part of South Park High School. Also included in this book are short chapters about university presidents, notable emeriti, regents, and trustees.                                



David P. Lewis Fungi Image Collection

David P. Lewis is a mycologist who has extensively studied and cataloged fungi in Southeast Texas and across the world. He is a Research Associate with the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, Illinois, an Honorary Staff Member of The Tracy Herbarium at Texas A&M University, and a graduate of Lamar University (1972 and 1978). He has discovered several new species of fungi, including the Cortinarius lewisii. In addition, Mr. Lewis has contributed over 20 scholarly articles and has been featured in publications such as Texas Monthly. The images in this collection are only a small sample of the thousands of fungi that Mr. Lewis has catalogued and observed throughout his career.
