ADA Compliant Computers in the Library The reference lab has 44 PCs for use with research, class projects, and university activities. Two of the PCs are dedicated to handicapped access. All reference lab PCs have Internet access, Windows accessibility software, and laser printers. The 20 PCs in the new portion of the lab have Microsoft Office 2003 installed and email capability. Printing is free of charge. Please bring your headphones to use the screen reader software. Lab users must have a Lamar ID or library barcode number to login to use the PCs. The 2nd - 6th floors each have one PC (located near the elevators) to search the library collection to find materials on these floors. The Government Documents Department PC is a dual purpose PC for use with government documents research or by students registered with Services for Students with Disabilities on campus. Accessibility software installed includes OpenBook screen reader, JAWS screen reader, and MAGic screen magnifier. The Microsoft Office 2003 Suite is installed, and the PC is equipped with a scanner and laser printer. Please bring your headphones to use the JAWS and OpenBook software. The Media Lab has 120 PCs, two of which are dedicated for use by students with disabilities. Accessibility software installed includes MAGic screen magnifier and JAWS screen reader. Email, chat, games, and software downloads are permitted. Laser printers are attached to all PCs, and printing is free of charge. Scanners are also available.
